Visiting The Baby Rooms

At Abbey Nursery, the Baby Rooms have a homely atmosphere with comfortable cots and prams, rocking chairs, sofa and lots of soft cushions. The rooms are brightly decorated with colourful pictures, there are mirrors on the walls and mobiles hanging from the ceilings. The rooms are resourced with age-appropriate play equipment which includes soft play toys, playmats, multi-activity centres, push around toys, heuristic and sensory equipment. We have separate areas for messy play; eating; sleeping as well as indoor and outdoor play.

The staff to children ratio for babies is one:three and your child will have their own 'key worker' who will be their primary 'carer' whilst in nursery. Staff in the baby room will follow a parents wishes with regard to feeding, sleep times, etc and are always flexible and accommodating.  When you first settle into nursery we make a point of obtaining as much information from parents to ensure that the baby's individual needs are met, and  daily feedback (including a written sheet) is given to parents at home time.

Following the Birth to Three guideline, we put a lot of effort into providing a safe, stimulating environment to encourage baby's senses, giving them the freedom and space to move around and the opportunity to explore and encourage their development.

As well as providing physical care for your baby, time is also devoted to playing actively to encourage them to explore and discover new experiences for themselves. Baby's day includes activities such as painting, sticking, messy play, playing action games, singing nursery rhymes, baby gym, and imaginary play.
